Description: This is the official website of the Our Lady of Mercy Complex Committee, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, preservation, and restoration of the Our Lady of Mercy Church and complex for the people of the Port au Port/Bay St. George area and all of Newfoundland and Labrador. The site tells the history of the 115-foot tall church, built between 1914 and 1925 with volunteer labor and designed by Father Joy to reflect Italian architecture. Visitors can learn about the church’s unique story, the Aguathuna limestone quarry, and the complex’s event hall, which is available for weddings, family reunions, gallery exhibitions, community luncheons, and other celebrations.
